Right-to-work records
Keep right-to-work checks visible during onboarding
Make sure right-to-work checks cannot be mistaken for an ordinary task. Orbis HR treats them as blocking until they are verified.
UK employers have duties to check that people have the right to work, and to keep suitable records. Orbis HR helps you manage that process and evidence. It does not carry out the check for you or give legal advice, so follow current GOV.UK guidance on how checks must be done.
Blocking checks, not just another task
In a long onboarding list, an important check can look the same as ordering a uniform. Orbis HR marks mandatory checks such as right to work as blocking, separate from ordinary reminders.
A person shows as ready for work only when required checks have been verified.
- Mandatory checks marked as blocking
- Ordinary reminders tracked separately
- A clear ready-for-work status

Evidence kept with the employee
Right-to-work evidence can be gathered as part of onboarding and kept on the employee's record, with permissions controlling who can see it.
Important actions are recorded in an audit history, so you can review what happened.
- Evidence kept on one record
- Field-level permissions
- Audit history of important records

Useful for any employer with changing teams
Busy periods and high turnover are when checks are most likely to be rushed. Hospitality, care, retail and warehouse employers can particularly benefit from a consistent process.
Reusable templates mean each new starter follows the same steps, whichever manager takes them on.
- The same process for each new starter
- Templates by role or location
- Visible to HR and managers
